We are a small but committed team of community leaders, volunteers, and friends who believe that every thoughtful act of support can help a family move beyond crisis and build a dignified future. Together, we work so that children, youth, and women in underserved communities in the United States and Africa have the chance to learn, stay healthy, and thrive.
Akim International Community Foundation, Inc. was founded in Minnesota in response to needs we witnessed both locally and in parts of Africa. We saw families struggling to meet basic needs, children leaving school because they lacked fees or supplies, and communities facing preventable health and water challenges. At the same time, we saw dedicated local leaders and volunteers who simply lacked resources to respond.
Our Foundation exists to come alongside these communities with practical support. We focus on humanitarian aid, education support for children and youth, basic health and hygiene outreach, simple water and sanitation (WASH) improvements, and empowerment opportunities for women and older girls.
Rather than building large institutions, we work through trusted local partners, churches, community groups, and schools. We listen first, co‑design small but meaningful projects, and steward every contribution carefully so that help reaches those who need it most. As we grow, we remain committed to humility, transparency, and respect for the dignity and leadership of the communities we serve.
